Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast
If you're looking for a break from all that meat on your BBQ, you should give this French Toast recipe a try. Prepared by Jeremy Silver from @HouseChefJ.
1 (day old) loaf French bread (unsliced)
3 large eggs
3/4 - 1 cup milk
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 block (250g) cream cheese
250g / 8 oz strawberries, halved
1 tbsp white sugar (optional)
Maple syrup, butter
Blend strawberries, cream cheese (& optional sugar) until smooth, set aside
Whisk together Egg Mixture in a bowl.
Melt 15g / 1 tbsp butter in a non stick skillet over medium heat. Coat baking pan (lasagna pan) with melted butter to avoid sticking
Cut slices of bread approx 2-3” thick and then slice 3/4 of the way down the middle to create a “pocket”
Stuff sliced bread with cream cheese mixture
Dunk a piece of bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides. Place in rimmed baking pan (lasagna pan). Repeat with more slices to fill the pan, but don’t crowd it (do 2 or 3 at a time).
Bake on Traeger at 375f (or oven) 35-40 minutes or until the surface is golden, then transfer to serving plates.
Serve with butter and plenty of maple syrup
